Fire breaks out at Sungei Kadut factory

SINGAPORE — Fire broke out at a single-storey factory at 14 Sungei Kadut Street 6 today (Aug 17).

SINGAPORE — Fire broke out at a single-storey factory at 14 Sungei Kadut Street 6 today (Aug 17).

The SCDF received the call at 9.52am, and dispatched firefighting assets to the scene of the blaze.

They arrived to find that the fire had burned through the zinc roof of the structure, which later collapsed.

The fire had involved wood and metal products and the affected area was approximately 80m square.

At the height of the operation, firefighters had encircled the factory with a total of seven water jets, including that of an Unmanned Firefighting Machine.

The fire was brought under control within an hour and damping operations are still in progress.

Two men had sustained burns and were conveyed by ambulance to Singapore General Hospital. Search operations are ongoing.
