Fire traps teen in Hougang St 11 flat

SINGAPORE — A male teenager was sent to hospital for smoke inhalation after he was rescued from a burning flat in Hougang St 11 earlier today (Oct 23).

SINGAPORE — A male teenager was sent to hospital for smoke inhalation after he was rescued from a burning flat in Hougang St 11 earlier today (Oct 23).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call at 3.29pm, alerting them to the fire at Block 158.

The SCDF had to force open a metal gate to enter the flat. The SCDF also said the fire involved the contents of the living room and it was put out in five minutes using a water jet.

One fire engine, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes, one ambulance and one support vehicle were dispatched to the site.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
