SINGAPORE – In a month’s time, the first of three tranches of bus services in the Bulim bus package will be rolled out, plying nine routes on the get-go.

The nine bus services, which will be run by Tower Transit Singapore, are 77, 106, 173, 177, 189, 941, 945, 947, and 990.

The second and third tranches will be rolled out in two-week intervals thereafter, adding 6 and 11 routes respectively on June 12 and 26.

The 26 bus services will operate from three bus interchanges – Bukit Batok, Clementi, and Jurong East – and terminate at four bus interchanges – Bedok, Marina Centre, Shenton Way, and Toa Payoh. They will be supported by the Bulim Bus Depot located off Jurong West Ave 2.

The tranches are implemented to ensure a smooth transition with minimal inconvenience to commuters, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Tower Transit Singapore in a joint news release. The Bulim bus package marks the start of the implementation of the bus contracting model.

Said LTA Chief Executive Chew Men Leong: “We would like to assure commuters that LTA, Tower Transit Singapore, SBS Transit and SMRT are working together tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.”

Tower Transit Singapore Managing Director Andrew Bujtor said they are in a “very good position” in terms of manpower and operational readiness, adding that a countdown timer is kept running on the screens in the depot, even in the canteen.

“I am proud of the tremendous job our team has done so far in getting us to the starting line. When we finally hit the road, our promise is that with the release of each tranche, each bus and each trip, we will continue to get better and more intuitive in serving our commuters,” he said.
