Free Singtel services over National Day weekend

SINGAPORE — Singtel is the latest telco provider to announce free offerings over Singapore’s golden jubilee weekend.

It announced today (July 15) that customers will be able to enjoy its services for free from Aug 7 till Aug 10, including mobile data and content from over 150 Singtel TV channels.

According to the telco, a total of 2.2 million postpaid mobile customers will get to enjoy free unlimited mobile data. For post-paid customers, any data incurred during that period will not be deducted from their existing data bundles, while prepaid mobile customers will receive an extra 50 per cent value for hi! Top-ups.

The free period starts from midnight (12.01am) Aug 7 until 11.59pm Aug 10.

Singtel TV customers can get free access to more than 150 channels, including Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network, STARWorld and FOX Movies Premium from 6am Aug 7.

In the press release, Singtel also said there will be more family entertainment shown over that long weekend, such as box office hits Big Hero 6 and Ah Boys to Men: Frogmen. In addition, it’ll be broadcasting SG50 TV specials as well, such as First Time Filmmakers: Singapore Stories and Megastructures: Gardens By The Bay.

Fifty video on-demand blockbusters – such as Taken 3 and Kingsman: The Secret Service – will also be on offer at 50 per cent off.

Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, chief executive officer of Singtel’s Singapore consumer unit said: “To thank (customers) for their support, we have prepared something for everyone in our Jubilee Weekend Specials. We hope to help put everyone in good spirits so they can enjoy Singapore’s 50th birthday celebrations to the fullest.”

Other telcos had also earlier announced their SG50 offers.

StarHub TV will be offering six days of all-access free viewing of over 150 channels during the National Day week, while M1 is giving free voice calls, SMS, MMS messages and unlimited mobile data from midnight on Aug 7 to 11.59pm on Aug 10. JEAN KHOO
