Glass door shatters at newly opened National Gallery Singapore

SINGAPORE — A glass door at the newly opened National Gallery Singapore (NGS) shattered and injured a visitor today (Dec 1).

SINGAPORE — A glass door at the newly opened National Gallery Singapore (NGS) shattered and injured a visitor today (Dec 1).

NGS has confirmed that the incident, which happened on the 5th level of the gallery at about 4.50pm. In a media statement, NGS said the visitor sustained minor abrasion on his right hand and was immediately given first aid by the Gallery’s staff.

NGS said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and as such, the affected area will be cordoned off for repair works until further notice. The Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery, Yan and Smoke & Mirrors remains accessible to public.

NGS added: “Please be assured that all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety of our visitors. We will conduct thorough safety assessments again after repair works is complete.”
