‘Golden staircase’: HDB could work with residents to create more art in estates

I refer to the report about the resident who created a “golden staircase” at Jalan Rajah (“Town council says student’s effort to cover HDB staircase in gold foil ‘not permissible’”, TODAYonline, March 7).

I refer to the report about the resident who created a “golden staircase” at Jalan Rajah (“Town council says student’s effort to cover HDB staircase in gold foil ‘not permissible’”, TODAYonline, March 7).

Perhaps, the Housing and Development Board could allow artistic and estate-proud residents to put artistic touches to the staircases in their immediate vicinity.

Of course, they will have to follow certain rules to ensure that their work will not be used for blatant advertising or to spread unhealthy messages. This may also encourage residents to exercise more by climbing up the stairs to appreciate their fellow residents’ effort.
