SINGAPORE — The haze may return to Singapore in the next few days if hotspot activities increase in Sumatra, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) in its daily haze situation update on Tuesday (Sept 27).

A total of 13 hotspots were detected in Sumatra today, but there were no visible smoke plumes or haze observed, said the NEA. In days ahead, dry weather conditions are expected over parts of northern and central Sumatra, with prevailing winds forecast to blow from the west-southwest or west-northwest.

The one-hour PM2.5 concentration over the next 24 hours is expected to remain in Band I (Normal), with the PSI forecast to be in the Moderate range.
