SINGAPORE — With the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, travellers using land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas can expect delays and high traffic volumes between Dec 23 and Jan 4 next year, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said.
In a statement today (Dec 19), the ICA said that with security checks, “traffic build-up is inevitable” and advised travellers seeking clearance at land checkpoints to “adjust their travel plans is possible”.
In the case they have to make the trip, the ICA advised travellers to car-pool where possible and ensure that they are carrying valid passports before presenting them for immigration clearance. Travellers are also advised to make sure they are not bringing unlawful or prohibited goods into or out of Singapore.
The ICA said drivers should maintain lane discipline, while eligible users (namely Sinaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders) are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at bus halls for immigration clearance.
Additionally, motorists should check on the traffic situation at both land checkpoints before embarking on their journey, the ICA said.
Travellers leaving Singapore by Woodlands or Tuas Checkpoint will be able to know in advance the traffic situation from LTA’s Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the AYE and BKE, respectively.
