Hello Kitty Collectors’ set sold out: McDonald’s Singapore

SINGAPORE — Just a week after its launch, McDonald’s today (April 30) announced that its Hello Kitty Collectors’ set has sold out online.

For the first time, Hello Kitty fans were allowed to place pre-orders for the entire collection of all six designs of Hello Kitty stuffed toys and have it delivered right to their doorstep.

The response to the online initiative, launched last Wednesday, was so overwhelming that the fast food giant had to stop taking online orders after about one-and-a-half hours, resulting in customers taking to social media to complain. Online sales resumed at around 7pm on the same day.

Close to 30 per cent of the plush toys were snapped up within the first six days, McDonald’s said.

The collection set had comprised all six Hello Kitty stuffed toys, a 40th Anniversary certificate and six S$5 Extra Value Meal food vouchers.

The Hello Kitty Bubbly World series will continue to be sold at McDonald’s outlets in Singapore over the course of six weeks, with individual plush toy designs will be released on a weekly basis.
