Higher parking charges kick in from Dec 1

SINGAPORE — Higher parking charges will kick in from Dec 1, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Housing and Development Board (HDB) reminded motorists on Tuesday (Nov 29).

It will cost 20 per cent more to park your car at public car parks, with half-hourly rates increased to 60 cents for white lots and S$1.20 for the yellow lots in the restricted zones. Short-term parking rates for heavy vehicles, which is typically charged twice that of cars, will be increased correspondingly.

Whole day parking rates for HDB and URA car parks will increase by S$2 to S$12 per day, while charges for whole day parking within restricted zones or designated areas will go up by S$3.50 to S$20 per day.

Monthly parking charges will go up by S$60 per month to S$360, while monthly parking fees for restricted zones or designated areas will go up by S$92 to S$552 per month.

Night parking charges will be at S$5 per night, from S$4.

Motorists will need to use the new parking coupons from Dec 1, and can exchange their unused old parking coupons for the new ones by topping up the difference in value at most HDB Branches/Service Centres and The URA Centre. From Dec 1 to Jan 31, 2017, motorists can also exchange their old coupons at participating petrol stations.

New coupons can be bought at most HDB Branches/Service Centres, The URA Centre and authorised coupon agents such as all petrol stations, Cheers and 7-Eleven outlets.
