SINGAPORE — Organisers of the 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix have announced the main acts for the Padang stage on race day.

Race promoter Singapore GP said on Friday (July 1) that Imagine Dragons and Halsey would be the headliners for the Padang Stage on Sept 18.

They join a list of other headliners previously announced, including Kylie Minogue, Queen + Adam Lambert, Bastille and Pentatonix.

Alternative rock band Imagine Dragons are best best known for their live shows and will be returning to our shores after performing here last year. The group — vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman — have been riding the wave of success, thanks to a string of hits such as Radioactive, It’s Time, Demons, Gold, Shots and I Bet My Life as well as two hit albums, Night Visions and Smoke & Mirrors.

Meanwhile, electropop singer-songwriter Halsey will be making her debut perform on Sept 18. She began her career by posting cover songs online and playing acoustic cover sets. But Halsey — a play on the name Ashley (her real name is Ashley Frangipane) – shot to fame with her self-penned single Ghost in 2014, and released her debut album Badlands, which peaked at No 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her other hits include New Americana, Colors and Castle (a version of which appeared on the soundtrack for the movie, The Huntsman: Winter’s War).

Tickets for this year’s race available for sale at www.singaporegp.sg or ticketing hotline 6738 6738, as well as all authorised ticketing agents.
