Jover Chew and four others charged over cheating cases at Sim Lim Square

SINGAPORE — Five men linked to the now-defunct Mobile Air shop in Sim Lim Square, including former owner Jover Chew, were charged for cheating in the State Courts today (May 29).

SINGAPORE — Five men linked to the now-defunct Mobile Air shop in Sim Lim Square, including former owner Jover Chew, were charged for cheating in the State Courts today (May 29).

Chew, 33, faces 26 charges — 24 of abetment by conspiracy to commit cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, one of criminal intimidation, and one of cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. Bail was set at S$40,000, with Chew’s mother bailing him out this afternoon.

The other four men — Koh Guan Seng, 38, Kam Kok Keong, 31, Lim Hong Ching, 33, and Lim Zhi Wei Kelvin, 32 — face one to 15 charges each of abetment by conspiracy to commit cheating. They were offered bail of S$10,000 to S$30,000 each.

Chew’s lawyer, Mr Chia Kok Seng told the court he would be taking instructions from his client, while the other four men intend to plead guilty.

Chew’s case will be next heard on June 25, while the others’ will be heard on June 19.

The case involving Vietnamese tourist, Pham Van Thoai, who tearfully begged on his knees for a refund last November, did not form part of the charges against Chew. The victim left Singapore soon after the incident.
