SINGAPORE — Jurong Country Club, which will be making way for the upcoming Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) terminus, submitted a claim of $168 million to the Collector of Land Revenue, but was awarded about half the amount at $89.8 million.

The club had submitted their claim to authorities on Nov 25.

“The Club believes its Claim reflects the true value of the Club. It is based on the valuation carried out with the assistance of real estate consultancy Knight Frank, who the Club appointed because of their experience in land acquisition valuations among other aspects of the property sector,” the Club said in a statement today (Dec 12).

The Collector awarded S$89.8 million to Jurong Country Club on Monday, in response to the country club’s claim for compensation of S$168 million submitted on Nov 25.

The Club added they will be seeking advice to lodge an appeal, and said some of their members felt disappointed and concerned about the difference between the two figures. The club will be calling for an Extraordinary General Meeting of its members “in a few weeks’ time”.

The 67-hectare site is set to be redeveloped as a mixed-use development, with office, hotel, retail and entertainment facilities. Family-friendly recreation amenities could also be a possibility, given the waterfront location. The HSR terminus, which will largely be located underground, is expected to take up about 12 ha of land.
