SINGAPORE — Ways to safely secure strollers on board public buses are being studied so that parents or caregivers will not have to fold them and carry the child in their arms during commutes, said Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan yesterday.

Member of Parliament Desmond Choo (Tampines GRC) had asked how the Land Transport Authority (LTA) can better cater to the needs of families with young children in this area.

In his written reply, Mr Khaw said he agrees that the public transport system must be inclusive and cater to the needs of different commuters, including families with young children. The LTA and bus operators are studying ways to safely secure strollers on board buses, he added. For now, bus captains and MRT station staff are trained to assist passengers with strollers while there are priority seats for young children and their caregivers, said Mr Khaw.
