SINGAPORE — The famed Madame Tussauds will arrive on Singapore’s shores in the second half of next year, Sentosa Development Corp and Merlin Entertainments Group announced today (Dec 9).

Merlin currently owns and operates 15 Madame Tussauds wax museums around the world, with five of them in Asia. The British operator of visitor attractions, including the London Eye, will also take over the management of Images of Singapore historical museum in Sentosa.

Ms Meike Schulze, the Directional Director of Merlin Entertainments’ Midway Attractions, said the company is investing about S$20 million on both the Madame Tussauds and Images of Singapore projects.

Madame Tussauds in Singapore will include individuals who have “had a hand in shaping Singapore”, besides celebrities and key historical figures from around the world.

“Asia is currently the most important growth area for the world for Merlin ... As an exciting and vibrant international hub, Singapore is the ideal location for a Madame Tussauds,” Ms Schulze said.
