SINGAPORE — A 48-year-old man has been charged on Friday (Aug 18) with the murder of a 35-year-old man at Teck Whye in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday.

Mohammad Rosli Abdul Rahim faces one count of murdering Mohammad Roslan Zaini. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

Court documents showed that on Wednesday, Rosli had allegedly killed Roslan, 35, some time between 1am and 4.33am at the latter's fourth-floor unit at Block 165A, Teck Whye Crescent.

Roslan's body was later spotted by a passer-by on a pavement near the block at around 4.40am on Wednesday.

The police arrived shortly after, and he was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Preliminary investigations showed that the incident is believed to have arisen from a dispute between the deceased and Rosli, said the police on Wednesday. Neighbours and Roslan’s girlfriend had told TODAY that Rosli was a housemate of the deceased.

Rosli, who is in curretly in remand, returns to court on Aug 25. Dressed in a red polo shirt, he looked emotionless as he was charged.
