SINGAPORE — A 33-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of fake accident scams, said the police on Tuesday (Nov 29).

The police said it had received several reports of the scams between Nov 27 and Nov 28.

The suspect would claim to be knocked down by the victim’s vehicle and request for compensation for his alleged injuries.

The victims had paid the suspect between S$26 and S$50.

The suspect was arrested on Monday along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, after police conducted ground enquiries and ascertained his identity.

He will be charged in court on Wednesday for the offence of cheating. If convicted, he could face a jail term which may extend to 10 years and also be liable to a fine.
