Man arrested for tossing pebbles at stationary vehicles while driving

SINGAPORE – The police have arrested a 61-year-old man suspected of being involved in a “rash act” on two occasions, where he allegedly tossed pebbles out of his moving vehicle and damaged two stationary cars.

SINGAPORE – The police have arrested a 61-year-old man suspected of being involved in a “rash act” on two occasions, where he allegedly tossed pebbles out of his moving vehicle and damaged two stationary cars.

TODAY understands that the man is a taxi driver.

On Thursday (Nov 16), the police received reports between 10pm and 11.20pm from two vehicle owners stating that the rear windscreens of their vehicles – parked along Foch Road and Desker Road – had shattered for unknown reasons.

“Through extensive on-scene investigations and ground enquiries, officers from the Central Police Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect,” said the authorities on Sunday (Nov 19).

Two days after the reports were lodged, the man was arrested along Hougang Avenue 3 at 2.20am. A bag of pebbles was found in his vehicle. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had tossed pebbles from his vehicle on several occasions besides Nov 16.

Investigations are currently ongoing. 

Anyone found guilty of committing a rash act which endangers the life of personal safety faces a jail term of up to six months or fined up to S$2,500 or both.
