Man charged with Teck Whye Lane murder

SINGAPORE — A 22-year-old man was today (April 29) charged with the murder of an 88-year-old woman.

SINGAPORE — A 22-year-old man was today (April 29) charged with the murder of an 88-year-old woman.

Muhammed Fazrie Mohamad Ridzuan is accused of causing the death of Lee Ping Yeng at about 11am on April 12.

Fazrie was arrested slightly more than two weeks later yesterday.

According to the police, Lee was found with head injuries at a lift lobby on the ninth floor of an HDB block at Teck Whye Lane.

She died three days later.

Fazrie will be remanded for a week, and his case will be heard again on May 6.

If guilty, he faces either a lifetime jail term with caning or death. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
