MINDEF expenditure to go up by S$706m

The Ministry of Defence’s expenditure in FY2015 is projected to be S$13.12 billion, an increase of S$706 million or 5.7 per cent from FY2014 (S$12.42 billion). The bulk of this goes towards the Singapore Armed Forces, including payment for the purchase of military equipment, maintenance of equipment and camps, and the salaries and allowances of full-time national servicemen and operationally-ready national servicemen. The cost of the National Day Parade in Singapore’s jubilee year will be about S$40 million, or double the usual amount.
