SINGAPORE — More than 20 residents were evacuated from their block after a fire broke out in a flat at Blk 257B Compassvale Road early Wednesday morning (July 20).

A man was conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital due to breathing difficulties.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they responded to the incident at around 4.15am and dispatched two fire engines, a Red Rhino, two ambulances and three support vehicles.

Upon arrival, firefighters forced their way into the unit and extinguished the fire using two water jets. The fire was put out within 30 minutes, said the SCDF.

A video by Facebook user Brian Woo, who lived in the opposite block, shows the fire raging in the third floor unit of the block.

SCDF is still investigating into the cause of the fire.
