SINGAPORE — About two months after announcing its employment package, new public bus operator Go-Ahead Singapore has filled 60 per cent of its 700 positions for bus drivers.

The company said on Thursday (April 7) that it has hired 424 bus captains before it starts operations in the third quarter this year. Among the new recruits, 358 are bus captains now serving on the 24 routes under the Loyang Bus Package, which include existing bus services starting at Changi Airport bus terminal and Pasir Ris and Punggol bus interchanges.

This means that almost nine in 10 of the existing bus drivers affected by the transition to the new Government contracting model for public buses have accepted job offers made last month by Go-Ahead Singapore, the company said. The other 66 drivers were successful applicants during the recruitment drive and are from outside the public bus services industry, with 60 per cent of them already possessing a Class 4 or 4A driving licence.

The company started training the new recruits last month and the hiring drive is still on, it said, adding that it expects to fill all 700 positions before operations begin.

Jobseekers may call 88766001 or walk in for interviews at the Loyang bus depot between 9.30am and 12.30pm from Monday to Thursday.
