SINGAPORE — More open spaces, new family-friendly facilities and a range of recreational options at East Coast Park are expected soon with enhancement works at Parkland Green and Marine Cove to be completed in September this year and mid-2016, respectively.
Part of the works include cutting down on infrastructure footprint — such as a 25 per cent reduction in Parkland Green’s Gross Floor Area — to open more green spaces for park-goers. The lawn at Parkland Green, previously fenced up, will also be opened, said the National Parks Board (NParks) in a statement today (May 21).
When Parkland Green opens, its offerings include eight dining establishments, two sports and retail outlets and a laser tag arena for adrenaline seekers.
Marine Cove will have more open park space, a playground, and a good mix of dining and recreational facilities to complement those at Parkland Green, said NParks.
Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Park Management and Lifestyle Cluster, NParks, Mr Kong Yit San said: “With more than 7 million visits annually, East Coast Park is Singapore’s most popular park, catering to the diverse needs of users.
“There are quiet corners, as well as lawn areas where families and friends can play together. The enhancement projects are part of NParks’ continuous efforts to upgrade amenities and improve accessibility and connectivity within the park.”
