SINGAPORE — The wet weather conditions experienced in the second half of June are forecast to persist into the first half of July, said the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) on Friday (June 30).

In its fortnightly update, the weatherman said there could be five to seven days of thundery showers over the next two weeks, mostly during the late morning and early afternoon hours. On two or three days, widespread thunder showers with occasional gusty winds are also expected due to the passage of a Sumatra squall.

On a few rainy days, the daily minimum temperatures could dip to around 22°C, said the met service. On most days however, the daily temperature is expected to range between 25°C and 33°C.

In June, the lowest daily minimum temperature recorded was 21.8°C. This was on June 23, when the rain was widespread over Singapore.

About half of Singapore received below normal rainfall last month. The lowest rainfall of 81.6mm (36 per cent below average) was recorded around the Tanjong Katong area, and the highest was recorded the Jurong area at 255mm (59 per cent above average).
