SINGAPORE — The National Environment Agency (NEA) will be taking legal action against Rynamo Building Services for causing pollution of a waterway near Jalan Pemimpin under the Environmental Protection and Management Act.

In a joint statement issued today (May 30), the NEA and PUB said blue discharge was detected by PUB in a drain at Clover Way yesterday. Upon investigation, it was found that the discharge came from a paint drum that had tipped over into the drain at Mayfair Industrial Building at 51, Jalan Pemimpin.

PUB contained the discharge within the drain, which was cleared up on the same day.

It added that water samples taken downstream of Clover Way showed that there was no impact to the water quality.

“PUB would like to reassure the public that it has a comprehensive system to monitor the quality of the raw water in our reservoirs. The raw water is treated at the waterworks according to World Health Organisation drinking water quality guidelines before it is supplied to households,” the statement said.
