SINGAPORE — Residents in Bedok will have a brand new cineplex to call their own by the first quarter of 2018.

Golden Village (GV) announced on Monday (Sept 26) that it will be opening a new cinema at the old Princess Theatre at Bedok North Street 1. When completed, the new cineplex will house six movie screens and approximately 600 seats, said GV.

There will also be restaurants, cyber sports cafe and karaoke bars in the new building, with the promise of “extended operating hours, which are longer than a typical heartland mall”.

In addition, the redeveloped Princess Theatre will also feature a communal rooftop garden plus greenery along its facade.

Building owner Overseas Movie said the redevelopment of Princess Theatre is “part of the emerging new face of Bedok — vibrant and buzzing with life”.

Golden Village’s Chief Executive Officer Clara Cheo added: “Over the years, residents of Bedok have been requesting for a cinema. When we were presented with such an opportunity with the redevelopment project of Princess Theatre, we seized it.”
