New community health centre in Jurong East opens

SINGAPORE — Yuhua and Jurong residents will be able to receive healthcare services not offered by their general practitioners (GPs) at a new community health centre in Jurong.

SINGAPORE — Yuhua and Jurong residents will be able to receive healthcare services not offered by their general practitioners (GPs) at a new community health centre in Jurong.

The Jurong East Community Health Centre (JECHC) will complement the primary healthcare services offered by GPs and polyclinics.

It is the first community health centre in the area, and it will handle cases that doctors in the area refer for auxiliary services which are currently not available at GP clinics.

The auxiliary services include audiometry, diabetic foot screening, digital retinal photography, electrocardiography, spirometry and health parameters monitoring.

The centre also provides physiotherapy, health education and counselling services.

JECHC will provide for better management of chronic diseases in the community setting.

The auxiliary services it offers will support medical care of patients and aging-in-place initiatives.

The centre was officially opened today (Dec 16) by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Grace Fu.

Ms Fu, who is also Second Minister for Environment & Water Resources and Foreign Affairs, is Member of Parliament for Yuhua. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
