SINGAPORE — Electricity firm PacificLight Energy (PLE) and solar energy firm Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) announced today (March 18) a joint programme to offer businesses a hybrid energy solution comprising a mix of electricity from solar and natural gas sources.

The two-year programme is supported by the Government as part of its efforts to promote solar power as a renewable energy source here.

Under the programme, called the PLEdge to RECharge Green Energy Program, firms will be provided with solutions customised to suit their needs. Firms can decide how much solar power they need, through a leasing arrangement model for solar panels provided by REC. The remaining energy needs will then be met by PLE through natural gas-fired electricity.

Both companies said that in the meantime, they will be exploring ways to encourage firms to adopt green energy.
