SINGAPORE — To commemorate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee, Twitter has launched uniquely-Singaporean emojis today (Aug 3) - a first for the Republic.

Twitter users can now display their nation pride with the aid of two new emojis; the Singapore flag and the SG50 icon.

Using the hashtag #Singapore when composing a tweet will generate the Singapore flag emoji, while the hashtag #SG50 will generate the SG50 icon.

Singaporean Blogfather Mr Brown, who was working with Twitter, officially launched the new Twitter emojis in a tweet this morning that became the No 1 Twitter Trend in Singapore within an hour.

“The emojis are a fun, colourful way to unite Singaporeans during their Golden Jubilee and National Day celebrations, which is also the perfect time to launch the first-ever Twitter emojis for Singapore,” said Mr Rishi Jaitly, Twitter’s Vice President of Media, APAC and MENA.
