The EUP, which aims to improve the physical condition and living environment of older estates, will include providing footpath lighting, creating barrier free access, covering drains to create footpaths, and improving the estates landscaping and parks.

MND will be spending an estimated S$20 million for the latest batch of estates under the EUP. These are Clover Estate, Lentor Estate, Thomson Faber Island Gardens, Toh Tuck Estate, Meng Suan or Springleaf Estates, Happy Gardens, Sea Breeze Garden, Toh Estate, Jalan Merbok, Jalan Layang-Layang, Jalan Kakatua, Jalan Selating, Jalan Rajawali and Shamah Terrace Estate.

In a press release issued today, MND said these estates were developed more than 30 years ago and more than 4,800 households will benefit from the improved facilities when upgrading works are completed in three to four years’ time.

Since it started in 2000, MND has spent S$176 million under its EUP to upgrade eight batches of older private estates in Singapore.
