SINGAPORE — Kidney dialysis patients living in Nee Soon constituency can now undergo treatment closer to home with the opening of the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) 26th dialysis centre today (Feb 2).
Located at Block 639 Yishun Street 61, the Yishun 2 Dialysis Centre has 20 kidney dialysis stations that will enable the centre to serve 120 patients.
Up to 42 needy patients who are living in Yishun, but are currently dialysing at other centres outside their constituency, will be able to cut short travel time and have their fees reduced, as they transfer to the new dialysis centre for their thrice-weekly dialysis sessions, said NKF chairman Koh Poh Tiong.
The Yishun 2 Dialysis Centre was set up with a S$2.1 million sponsorship from Le Champ (South East Asia) Pte Ltd.
NKF will also be opening four more centres at the Housing Development Board (HDB) void decks of Jurong West, Bendemeer, Bukit Panjang and Bukit Merah by the end of this year. The foundation also plans to open three more centres by end 2016, bringing the total number of NKF dialysis centres to 33.
