NTU, NUS executive MBA programmes among top ten in the world: FT

SINGAPORE — Executive MBA (EMBA) programmes offered by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are in the top ten of this year’s Financial Times’ Global EMBA ranking, with another four courses available in Singapore also making the list.

SINGAPORE — Executive MBA (EMBA) programmes offered by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are in the top ten of this year’s Financial Times’ Global EMBA ranking, with another four courses available in Singapore also making the list.

NUS Business School’s joint-EMBA programme with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) climbed one spot to fourth place this year, while Nanyang Business School’s Nanyang EMBA programme rose by five places to eighth.

Other EMBA programmes in Singapore that made the list included: The Tsinghua University-Insead EMBA offered at the Insead Singapore campus (3rd), the Insead Global EMBA programme (9th), NUS Business School’s Asia-Pacific EMBA (18th) and the EMBA programme at Aalto University (83rd).

The Financial Times compiled the rankings based on a survey of 2011 graduates. EMBA programmes must meet a strict criteria to be considered for the list: The schools must be accredited by either the US’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business or the European Equis accreditation bodies, and their programmes must have run for at least four consecutive years.

Graduates from the NUS-UCLA EMBA programme reportedly saw a 78 per cent rise in their annual salaries three years after graduation. Nanyang EMBA alumni on the other hand, saw a 71 per cent rise in salaries.

“The programmes’ consistently strong performance is affirmation of the quality of the education we offer, as well as the strength of our faculty members,” NUS Business School’s dean, Professor Bernard Yeung, told Channel NewsAsia.

“Competition amongst top business schools has always been very intense but our Nanyang Business School has continued to progress because the EMBA is relevant to students and employers,” added NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson.

The Trium Global EMBA programme, run by HEC Paris, the London School of Economics and Stern School of Business at New York University, was the top ranked course for the year. It surpassed the joint programme by the Kellogg School of Management and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the top ranked course for the last five years.
