SINGAPORE – OCBC’s annual mass cycling event is set to take place on August 29 next year under a new event organiser, Pich Event Management.

In a press release today (Oct 28), OCBC said that participants for OCBC Cycle 2015 will get to ride into the iconic National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub as organisers plan for the route’s finishing line to be located in the facility.

This year, OCBC said that safety will be of “paramount concern” for everyone involved in the execution of the event.

“The safety of all participants is our top priority. We will work with the new organizer to put in place a range of new safety measures,” said Mr Samuel Tsien, Group CEO of OCBC Bank.

In this year’s edition, an accident involving a 24-year-old full-time National Serviceman left him in critical condition after a crash along Sheares Bridge in the 59km Super Challenge. He died from his injuries soon after.

The title sponsor then called for an open tender exercise last July to seek for a new event organizer after terminating the contract with Spectrum Worldwide. After drawing bids from seven companies, Pich Event was finally appointed.

Mr Jaymes Tan, a senior consultant at Pich Event, said that the company is upbeat about their appointment for OCBC Cycle 2015 and aware of the requirements needed from the team.

“We are mindful of the very high standards expected of us. We look forward to meeting the challenge of producing a new OCBC Cycle that gives an excellent experience for everyone who takes part,” said Mr Tan.
