PM Lee congratulates Abe on Tokyo winning bid to host 2020 Olympics

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has congratulated Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tokyo’s successful bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games.

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has congratulated Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tokyo’s successful bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games.

Mr Lee added that Tokyo will become the first Asian city to host the Summer Olympic Games twice.

He also said that he was looking forward to an exciting and memorable Olympic Games in 2020.

Tokyo won the bid to host the games, securing 60 votes to Istanbul’s 36 after Madrid was eliminated during the first round of voting. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
