SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong congratulated Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton on the birth of their daughter in a Facebook post today (May 3).

In the post he wrote: “Congrats to Prince William and Kate on the birth of their daughter! Remember warmly their visit to us in 2012. Happy that they have an SG50 baby!”

Mr Lee added that President Tony Tan Keng Yam would be sending them an SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift set.

The Jubilee Gift sets are for all Singaporean babies born this year to commemorate the nation’s 50th birthday, and each set contains eight items: a special medallion, a multi-functional shawl, a baby sling, a set of baby clothes, a diaper bag, a scrapbook, a family photo frame and a set of baby books.

The baby — Prince William and Kate’s second child, and their first girl — was born yesterday morning at St Mary’s Hospital in London. She is fourth in line to the throne and the fifth great-grandchild of 89-year-old Queen Elizabeth II.

The name of the new born baby princess is not yet announced. ANJALI RAGURAMAN
