The Garden Party is held in appreciation of the contributions to the community of grassroots and community leaders. It is another occasion to mark Singapore’s 50th year of independence this year.
Among the 4,200 grassroots and community leaders invited, 500 are Pioneer Generation grassroots leaders. Mr Phang and Mr Phua are the only two Pioneer Generation leaders who have volunteered for community service for 50 years since 1965.
