PM Lee sends condolences to S Korea president on ferry sinking

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has conveyed his condolences to South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye on the sinking of the passenger ferry, the Sewol, off Byeongpung Island on April 16.

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has conveyed his condolences to South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye on the sinking of the passenger ferry, the Sewol, off Byeongpung Island on April 16.

In his letter to President Park, Mr Lee said he was very saddened to learn of the incident.

He said that “it is especially heart wrenching that many on the ferry are young students, whose excursion to a resort ended so tragically”.

On behalf of the government and people of Singapore, Mr Lee expressed the deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims.

He added: “Our thoughts are with you and your people in this time of sorrow.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
