SINGAPORE — President Tony Tan Keng Yam hosted a reception today (March 2) in appreciation of some of those involved in the Chingay parade over the weekend.
SINGAPORE — President Tony Tan Keng Yam hosted a reception today (March 2) in appreciation of some of those involved in the Chingay parade over the weekend.
About 40 of the event’s sponsors, donors and participants were hosted to lunch at the Istana. Dr Tan thanked them for their contributions to a successful Chingay parade and handed out awards to recognise the sponsors.
Dr Tan also joined them for in a Chinese New Year Yu Sheng toss and spoke to some youths involved the parade’s finale segment.
In a Facebook post, Dr Tan said: “The Chingay parade is a flagship event that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate our multicultural identity and national core values. This year’s Chingay parade is special as it commemorates 50 years of nation building. The scale of the parade is also the largest ever in Chingay’s history.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
