SINGAPORE — Two of three students who sat for this year’s Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) are eligible for the Express stream, said the Ministry of Education yesterday.

Of the 42,336 students who sat for the exam, 97.6 per cent qualify to move on to secondary school.

This comprises 66.4 per cent of students who qualify for the Express stream, 20 per cent for the Normal (Academic) stream and 11.2 per cent for the Normal (Technical) stream.

The remaining 2.4 per cent, or 1,007 students, who did not qualify for secondary school may re-attempt the PSLE next year if this year’s examination was their first attempt, or apply to Assumption Pathway School or NorthLight School.

Students who have attempted the exam multiple times will be preferentially offered a place in these schools. Laura Philomin
