PUB rebates for those affected by discoloured tap water in Punggol

SINGAPORE — Punggol residents affected by brown-coloured water running out of their taps since yesterday will receive rebates from PUB, which apologised for the problem.

SINGAPORE — Punggol residents affected by brown-coloured water running out of their taps since yesterday will receive rebates from PUB, which apologised for the problem.

The national water agency said some could still be experiencing the problem today (June 13) and recommended that affected residents run their taps until the water is clear.

PUB had explained the discoloured water was caused by suspended mineral sediments due to valve operations on a potable water pipe along Tampines Expressway yesterday to facilitate the connection of a newly-laid pipe. The water mains were flushed throughout last night, which also caused some residents to experience lower than usual water pressure, it added.

In the meantime, water wagons and water bags are on standby to provide free water directly to the affected residents. Residents can call the PUB at 1800 284 6600 if they require any on-site assistance. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
