SINGAPORE – From Monday (May 15), members of the public can send in their suggestions for the names of the last three MRT stations on the Circle Line, located at Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward.

To be completed in 2025, the stations will close the loop on the Circle Line, connecting HarbourFront station to Marina Bay station.

The proposed names should help commuters easily identify the location of the station, illustrate the history and heritage of the station’s location, or reflect Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-cultural identity. Stations are not to be named after public structures or commercial and residential developments, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a press release on Monday.

The public can also propose whether the current working names should be kept, along with a brief explanation for this. A final list of shortlisted names that meet the criteria will be sent to the Street and Building Names Boards for endorsement, and the LTA will conduct a public polling exercise later this year to determine the final MRT station names.

In the past, similar naming exercises have been conducted for new MRT stations on the Circle Line, Downtown Line and Thomson-East Coast Line.

With the completion of these three stations, the Circle Line will have a total of 33 stations, including 12 interchange stations with other MRT lines.
