Punggol West LRT loop’s Samudera station opens next Friday

SINGAPORE — Another station on the western loop of the Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) system will be open for passenger service next Friday (March 31), this time giving commuters better access to the Marina Country Club, two kindergartens and a bicycle rental shop in the area.

Samudera station, a four-minute walk away from Marina Country Club, will add to the six stations currently servicing the Punggol West LRT loop.

In a press release on Monday, SBS Transit said the eighth and last station in the loop, Teck Lee station, will be opened only “in tandem with the developments in the surrounding areas”.

With Samudera station’s opening, train services will continue to operate under current arrangements where trains run in one direction only, at a frequency of between seven and eight minutes, SBS Transit added.

Currently, the loop service serves Sam Kee station as the first stop from the start of operations to 3pm daily. From 3pm to the end of the LRT service, trains move in the opposite direction, departing from Punggol Town Centre with Soo Teck station as the first stop.
