BRISBANE — No “cattle class” for four special furry guests heading to the Singapore Zoo when they make the journey from Brisbane on a Qantas plane on Monday (April 13).

The Australian carrier said that they will be sitting in “koala class”, and going by a photo preview posted on Facebook today (April 12), they could be lapping up a nice drink and chewing on eucalyptus leaves.

The koalas — named Paddle, Pellita, Chan and Idalia — will be on loan to Singapore for six months at a purpose-built exhibit in the Singapore Zoo. Though they arrive on Monday, the official handover will take place only on May 20, after the animals complete the necessary quarantine procedures and when their renovated enclosure is complete.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the koalas will actually be flown in custom-built, climate-controlled capsules — equipped with a tree and high quality leaves, specially built for their air journey. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
