SINGAPORE — Singapore citizens can now check their particulars in the revised registers of electors, the Elections Department said today (July 27). Citizens can check their particulars at the Elections Department at 11 Prinsep Link, community centres/clubs, Singapore overseas missions or online at http://www.eld.gov.sg.

Overseas Singaporeans, whose names are listed in the registers of electors and who have resided in Singapore for at least 30 days between Feb 1, 2012 and Jan 31 this year are encouraged to register as overseas electors early if they wish to vote at one of the designated overseas polling stations. People whose names were removed from the registers of electors for failing to vote at a previous election, may also apply to have their names restored to the registers so they can vote.

Applications for registration of overseas electors and the restoration of names to the registers will close once the Writ of Election is issued.

A register of electors is a list of all qualified electors belonging to the electoral division that the register relates to. There is one register for each electoral division.

The registers of electors are compiled from records kept by the Commissioner of National Registration. Only Singapore citizens above the age of 21, and who have not been disqualified from being an elector are allowed to vote at the coming General Election.

There are a total of 2,460,977 electors in the registers.
