Residents in Clementi, Ghim Moh hit by water disruption

SINGAPORE — Water supply was disrupted in Clementi and Ghim Moh (Oct 28) for about an hour today (Oct 28).

SINGAPORE — Water supply was disrupted in Clementi and Ghim Moh (Oct 28) for about an hour today (Oct 28).

Residents claim at least four blocks had their water supply cut or experienced poor water pressure from about 5.30pm to 6.30pm. PUB, however, were unable to confirm the exact number of blocks affected and said they are still investigating the matter.

Mr Ng Weng Kwong, 70, told TODAY that he realised there was no water at about 5.30pm when he was about to take a shower. Mr Ng, who lives in block 410 Commonwealth Ave West, said he then found out from neighbours that “four or five households” also did not have water supply in their homes, including some from nearby blocks.

“There was no water so they couldn’t cook and went to Clementi Town Centre to buy food,” he said.

Some residents took to social media to express their frustrations.

Twitter user @idahfriday expressed her anger towards PUB: “PUB of all timings why at 5ish pm did you choose to off the whole block water WITHOUT notice?!”

In a media statement, a PUB spokesperson said: “PUB received calls from customers in the Clementi and Ghim Moh areas from 5.40 pm reporting of poor pressure or no water. Our service van crews attended to the affected customers immediately and provided water bags. Four water wagons were also deployed to site.”

According to PUB, water supply was “normalised” at about 6.40pm and that a total of 20 five-litre water bags were handed out to affected residents.
