SINGAPORE — More than S$300,000 worth of drugs have been seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) during a three-day blitz targeted at drug-trafficking activities.
SINGAPORE — More than S$300,000 worth of drugs have been seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) during a three-day blitz targeted at drug-trafficking activities.
The islandwide operation, which was conducted between Oct 5 and Oct 8, saw CNB officers seizing about 3kg of heroin, 495g of “Ice”, 326 Ecstasy tablets, 64 Erimin-5 tablets, 42g of cannabis, and a small amount of new psychoactive substances.
A total of 26 suspected drug traffickers and 55 suspected drug abusers were also arrested, the bureau said today (Oct 8). The operation also resulted in the smashing of a drug-ring based in Jurong West.
On the night of Oct 6, CNB officers deployed in the area had observed a black Singapore-registered car meeting up with a Malaysia-registered lorry. The officers followed both vehicles, and the trail eventually led them to four Singaporeans and two Malaysians, who were found to be in possession of drugs.
The six were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and couriering.
The drug-ring bust saw CNB officers seizing about 926g of heroin and 438g of “Ice”, with the drugs estimated to be worth about S$143,000.
Earlier on Oct 5 at Woodlands Crescent, CNB officers seized about 1,571g of heroin and 38g of ‘Ice’, with a total estimated worth of about S$116,000.
A 42-year-old Singaporean woman and a 36-year-old Malaysian man were arrested under suspicion of drug trafficking and couriering respectively.
Another man and woman were also arrested in a follow-up raid. Investigations into the suspects’ drug activities are still ongoing.
