SINGAPORE — Physical spaces at *SCAPE will be revamped in the coming year to better support strong youth interest in areas like music and dance, said Parliament Secretary for Ministry of Community, Culture and Youth Low Yen Ling.

“There will be more spaces and better equipment for our young Singaporeans to hone and display their talent. For example, we envisage an alfresco bandstand where young musicians can regularly perform in front of their peers,” said Ms Low during the MCCY Committee of Supply debate in Parliament today (March 12).

An existing 100-seater gallery will also be remodelled to make it more suitable for film screenings, music performances and seminars, the tenant mix will be updated with new and popular lifestyle offerings.

Ms Low also said more programmes will be organised for youths by youths at *SCAPE, such as hosting the inaugural National Youth Film Awards, YouTube FanFest, and SHINE Festival where youth talents can be featured. *SCAPE will also connect young musicians to the wider youth audience through school performances with the *SCAPE Invasion Tour.

In addition, *SCAPE plans to encourage the youth to help the less fortunate by expanding its community-specific programmes and community trails at different neighbourhoods, added Ms Low.
