SINGAPORE – This year’s School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans (SPERS) opens for registration from tomorrow (July 17).

SPERS is for Singaporean children who are returning from overseas and who wish to join secondary schools, junior colleges or Millennia Institute (MI) at the beginning of academic year 2014.

Returning Singaporean children seeking admission to Secondary 1 to 3 next year can take the SPERS-Sec tests on Oct 10 this year.

Those seeking admission to Pre-University 1 can take the SPERS-JC/MI tests on Nov 21.

Applicants will get their school placement results in December this year.

A Supplementary Placement Exercise will also be held in December for those who are unable to return in time to take the SPERS-Sec tests in October.

The Education Ministry said Returning Singaporeans are advised to register for SPERS-Sec if they are able to return in October as their children would benefit from starting the academic year 2014 in January together with their peers. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
