SINGAPORE — Seven male suspects aged between 15 and 18 have been arrested in connection with a series of shoplifting cases islandwide.

In their statement, Police stated that they had received a report on Aug 11 that electronic appliances were suspected to have been stolen from a store located at Changi Airport.

The seven suspects were subsequently arrested on Aug 28. An assortment of items, including video cameras and headphones believed to have been stolen, were recovered from the suspects.

Investigations indicate that the suspects worked in groups, with some acting as look-outs and distracting staff while others took the items. They are believed to have cut wires securing some of the items, and also sold some of the stolen items online.
Investigations are ongoing to establish their involvement in several similar cases islandwide.

If convicted, they face a jail term of up to 7 years and a fine.
