SINGAPORE — Nine shortlisted names for the final three stations of Circle Line 6 are up for voting from Friday (Nov 10) to Dec 10.

The current working names for the three stations are Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward, with three shortlisted names for each station.

For Keppel, the names available for public polling are Keppel, Keppel Harbour, and Keppel Port.

The shortlisted names for Cantonment are Cantonment, Old Railway Station, and Spottiswoode Park.

The three proposed names for Prince Edward station are Prince Edward Road, Parsi Road, and Palmer Road.

The station names were shortlisted from almost 2,000 suggestions in a naming exercise conducted between May 15 and June 18 this year, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement Friday.

Criteria for the shortlisted names include easy identification of the location, the history and heritage of the station surroundings and the multi-racial, multi-cultural character of Singapore if possible.

Stations should not be named after public structures, or commercial and residential developments.

LTA said that the results of the polling will be collated and the official station names will be announced subsequently.

The three stations in the Southern part of Singapore — stretching four-kilometres — will close the loop for the Circle Line by connecting HarbourFront Station to Marina Bay Station.

Works for the three station are expected to be completed in 2025, expanding the Circle Line network to 33 stations, including 12 interchange stations with other MRT lines.

The completion of the loop will enable commuters to travel directly between areas in the west, such as Pasir Panjang and Kent Ridge, key employment areas in the Central Business District, and upcoming developments in the Marina Bay area, LTA added.
